How is e-invoicing developing across Europe – and what can Austrian companies already learn from the experiences of other countries?
That was exactly the focus of our joint webinar with PCS Solutions on September 22, 2026. Together, Klaus Schaffer from EDI Service & E-Invoicing Partners Avenum and Gerald Six from PCS Solutions provided insights into current developments in electronic invoicing and showed how companies can prepare for upcoming requirements.
From European developments to practical implementation
While mandatory B2B e-invoicing is already a reality in some European countries, others are currently in the process of introducing or preparing their systems. These different approaches also highlight the practical challenges that can arise and the aspects companies should consider at an early stage.
Klaus Schaffer shared insights from EDI and e-invoicing projects as well as experience from various European markets. Key questions included:

One thing became clear: e-invoicing is about much more than simply introducing a new invoice format. For processes to work effectively in the long term, data, interfaces, systems, and business partners all need to work together.
E-invoicing directly from TradeControl
Gerald Six demonstrated what practical implementation can look like using TradeControl. By connecting TradeControl to the EDI Service provided by EDI Service & E-Invoicing Partners Avenum, invoice data can be exchanged automatically between the systems and business partners involved. This allows e-invoicing to be integrated into existing processes without creating additional manual steps. It provides the technical foundation for handling different requirements, formats, and transmission methods.
E-invoicing as an opportunity for automated processes
One key takeaway from the webinar: companies should not wait until a national e-invoicing mandate is imminent before addressing the topic.
By analyzing existing invoicing processes early and digitalizing them in a structured way, companies can combine regulatory requirements with tangible benefits: less manual work, end-to-end processes, and automated data exchange with customers and business partners.
